Being as a part of whl.travel network has made us realize that we should be doing more within Riga and Latvia to support the local community, culture and environment. We are committed to promoting and supporting the development of sustainable tourism in Latvia. Our company is seeking out accommodation, activity and catering service providers who have included responsible travel initiatives into their services or facilities. It can be cultural, environmental or social with a purpose to help ensure the sustainability of the destination by protecting the local assets.
Latvia as Sustainable Tourism Destination
Latvia – a small country on the Baltic Sea, which has a wonderful heritage of history, culture and traditions. We are sure that Latvia is a great example of sustainable tourism destination because of its green nature, wonderful integration of medieval and contemporary architecture and colourful traditions – Folk Song Festival, Midsummer Festival (Ligo svetki) and national food. Must not forget the bathhouse traditions with birch besoms prepared from different herbs.
